Because of A Girl and A Cow

"Because of A Girl and A Cow." You'll see it referenced often because it is the reason we exist today! Back in 2017, while visiting a farm animal sanctuary with my mom and daughter, I was so moved by a special moment between my daughter, Shailee, and a cow (steer) named Ben, that I vowed right then and there to change the way I was eating and living. A few months later when Ben passed away, I promised him I would dedicate the rest of my life to not only sharing our story, but rescuing and sharing the stories of other farmed animals, in the hopes that people would make the connection, like I did. In November of 2018, my husband, Josh, and I packed six suitcases and moved to the Big Island of Hawaii, and Big Island Farm Sanctuary was born!
