“All the love you ever gave is waiting for you there at Rainbow Bridge.” -Kate McGahan

Scout was a baby potbellied pig who came from a family looking to re-home her. We were more than happy to welcome Scout as the first official resident of Big Island Farm Sanctuary and immediately fell in love!

Sadly, we lost Scout suddenly, on January 29th, 2019. To know Scout was to love her. She touched so many lives in her short life; and will always be remembered as the little pig with the big personality.

Scout loved to spend her days rooting around the grounds and following us everywhere. If we got too far away, she came grunting and chasing after us. She was so excited to welcome the new cows and spent much time hanging out with them. We will miss her nightly cuddles, spunky personality, and amazing little piggy kisses.

Not a single day will go by that we don't think of our little Scout and we will continue to do all that we do to rescue and educate, in #scoutshonor.

Talula was originally kept as an egg-laying pet. Her owners decided she needed more attention and we were happy to oblige. Talula was never forced to lay eggs but when she did, they were given back to her so she could replenish the nutrients she'd lost. Talula spent her days at BIFS running around playing with her chicken friends, and just enjoying the good-chicken life. Talula left us on March 27th, 2019, way too soon; but we know we'll see her again on the other side of the rainbow and that, in the meantime, she's hanging out with our founding resident, Scout, looking down on us and cheering us on.

Fly high pretty girl.
